Everything To Me |
I wanted to write a pop song and work on the imagery in my lyrics. This was the result.
Little Man |
I feel very strongly about any form abuse, including spousal abuse. This song expresses some of my anger and my belief that anyone who abuses someone else isn’t the big man that they want to be, they are really quite small. The original title for this song was ‘Little Dick’ but the play on words was a little too obvious.
Whiskey Road |
This song is about coping with pain the wrong way. I wrote a series of blogs as I wrote this, which you can read starting here
She Needs To Be Free |
I wrote this for my daughter when she moved out to start her own adventure in life. I love that she is strong and confident enough to follow her own path, and I hope the bumps that we all inevitably experience don’t change her or get her down.
Hard Lovin Man |
This song is about the relationship between two passionate and complex people. Being able to express your true self and be fully accepted by your partner is one of the keys to a happy relationship.
Country At Heart |
I grew up listening to and playing mostly classic rock. I felt a little guilty selling myself as a country writer, so I wrote this song about a city boy who loves country music. For extra credit, try to find all of the names of country songs throughout the lyrics.
This Old Wedding Band |
This started as an anniversary song for my wife and Mark added his personal touch too. One thing I have learned is that there will be good times and bad, and the best thing we can do is find someone that we are willing to go through both with. I have found that with my wife, something for which I am eternally grateful.
That’s The Truth |
This song started as a response to Carrie Underwood’s ‘Before He Cheats’. In that song, she accuses a man cheating on her, but he never gets a chance to give his side. I thought, what would it be like to be the guy who walks out of the bar and finds his truck trashed not by a current girlfriend, but by a crazy ex-girlfriend who just won’t let go. Thus the story was born. Let it go, girl!
Redneck Millionaire |
I keep trying to write a song about not needing material things and just being happy with what you have. This is my latest attempt. I don’t think I have hit the mark yet, so I will be doing another version at some point.
Thank God For You |
I wrote this song after going through a tough stretch, for all those people who stood beside me and helped me through it. It was very hard for me to admit that I needed help, but sometimes we all do. |
